  • High Speed Disosals?

Anaheim Manufacturing mass produced the first high speed disposal using compact, permanent magnet motors. These spin at 50-70% faster revolutions per minute than Insinkerator's bulky low speed induction motor designs.

Anaheim Manufacturing and their Whirlaway brand appears to be out of business, but Waste King appears to have the WhirlAway line now and it has a line that looks identical, as does G.E. Moen, and a truckload of off-name brands.

Waste King appears to be positioning their WhirlAway line as an economy, low feature line in the 1/3rd to 1/2 horsepower range, no stainless steel in the grind chamber system, and their Waste King line has models to 1 1/2 horsepower, will a full complement of desirable stainless steel starting at 3/4 horsepower and above.

The issue for plumbing professionals is every one of these manufacturers above named manufacturers and resellers appear to bust the distribution chain and sell direct to Home Depot, Lowes, etc. With unrealistic clients expectations suppressing your installation procedure pricepoints, its against the interests for anyone running a professional plumbing practice to provide and install these brands. This is why Mike Diamond Plumbing hjad these made as a private label for his plumbing practice.

The design is superior though. Not to be confused with American Standard branded high speed permanently magnet motor disposals sold by Costco, etc. These were marketed by a Canadian company called Conglom Inc reselling a China mainland made product, and it was quite inferior.

Considering all the above, what is your take on disposal design and what does your plumbing practice supply as part of an installation procedure? Do you feel you are getting a pricepoint for the procedure fair to your plumbing practice? Do you rebrand disposals?
